Managing overall external communications for a project with the Alzheimer Society of BC.

A project to improve casual staff retention and revamp the entire scheduling process, including changes to union certifications. Included advice, education, tools and presentations.  This project won a Top Innovator award from the Health Employers Association of BC in 2007.

A project to roll out the Picture Archiving and Communications System into 25 facilities, keeping the staff, media, political stakeholders and funders informed. Included Open Houses, information pieces, media prep and project lead education.

Communication Lead to take a health region campus smoke free (Phase 1).

An energy awareness campaign for staff, a traveling informational display and powerpoint presentations, working with energy and government partners to increase staff environmental awareness and reduce energy use.

Briefing Papers, Plans and Reports

Comprehensive briefing papers on the status of health services in a large BC health region as well as arising issues for the Provincial Minister of Health.

An Inventory and Report on the status of perinatal services for planning purposes.

A Prevention Plan on Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder, including interviews with primary, secondary and tertiary stakeholders.

A briefing paper on the situation of smoking within and around health care facilities as background planning information for the Administrator of a large hospital.

A report on how to improve Physician Communications, including distributing a survey to 1150 physicians in the health region.

Newsletters

An electronic monthly Staff Newsletter for a health region with 18,000 staff and 140 facilities.

An electronic and printed Physician Newsletter for 1,100 physicians.

A printed Newsletter for a health region with 2,000 employees and 10 facilities.

A complete redesign of the Mental Health and Addictions portion of the Interior Health website.

A brochure to explain a new data collection system for patients.

A fact sheet on the PACS system being installed throughout the health region.

A 20 page "Health Services Guide" detailing the services provided by a health care organization and how to access these services; revised annually.

News Releases

Campaigns to educate and inform or broaden public acceptance. A series of news releases on seniors' issues, smoking prevention and mental health issues - different campaigns to educate the public while broadening the acceptance of certain health issues.

News releases on new equipment, working with funders and politicians.

News releases as part of a campaign to promote a healthcare organization as innovative and forward thinking.

News releases to raise awareness of activities taken by the healthcare organization to help the environment.

Surveys and Results Reporting

An internal staff survey to determine communication needs of healthcare staff, compiled results of over 1,200 responses. Presented results with suggestions for change to Senior Management Team as well as interim updates on activities arising from this survey.

An internal staff survey on environment issues to determine support of staff to include environmental effects as part of decision-making process. Compiled results (over 1,000 responses) and presented to the environmental committee of the organization.

Emergency Communications

Communications Liaison during the BC Forest Fires, 2003.
Communicating facility closures, evacuations, air and water quality alerts and stress indicators to internal and external stakeholders as well as the general public.
